Narrative Writing Short Story
We wrote a short story about a kind of journey. I hope you enjoy my story.
On a dark and spooky night when the owls were hooting you could hear two little boys playing a video game inside a big creepy house that had boarded up windows and missing roof tiles. The two boys, Jet and Rider, were having a sleepover and they couldn’t sleep because they had way too many lollies and fizzy drinks. They’d found a new game that they’d never played before down stairs under the couch and together they said, “WOW!” as they were amazed and in complete shock. Quickly but quietly they scurred back up to Rider’s room. They got the game disc out of its case and they put it into the game console. The game had turned on and it was time for them to pick their character. When they chose their character they were screaming in terror, “ Help us we are getting invaded!” They both closed their eyes for 10 seconds because they were scared, Their eyes opened, they were in the middle of a deserted Island.
After hours and hours of searching the Island Rider could barely see land, it was very far north from the Island. They had no choice so they started to swim. “It’ll only take a couple minutes to get there,” cried Jet.
So they were determined to get there. The minutes became hours, the hours became days and the days became weeks. They were lucky enough to have breaks on the way
because they found little Islands even smaller than the Island that they’d started on. Eventually they made it to the land that had red bananas, berries and coconuts. They ended up very full after eating a bit of food that they could find. There was a man that they found at the top of a mountain in a helicopter. His exact words that he said were, “Hello, welcome to the gallery, today your mission is to get the stolen Jem off of Cadbury and return it to the home of the jaguars, although if you ever get in trouble or have finished your mission just call out gallery to safely return home.” That only meant one thing to the boys. They knew that they’d have to complete the mission.
So off they went walking through the forest trying to find streams sothey could have some drinking water. After about 10 minutes of walking they’d finally found an abandoned jeep and a giant statue that looked like a jaguar. They saw Cadbury running in the bush.
Jet yelled out “Get him!”
“Chase them!” replied Rider.
They were running after Cadbury and they slipped in some cow pat.
But then eventually after running for 1.9 miles later they had caught up to him. They got the gem and sprinted back to the jaguar statue and climbed up it with some speed. They had found the gap where it was supposed to be. When they’d put the gem stone where it belongs there was a waterspout happening so as quickly as possible they screeched “GALLERY!” Their vision was poor and before they knew it they were back in their room and then Jets alarm for 7:00am had just gone off. It was time for breakfast so they snapped the game disc in half and threw it in the rubbish bin.

Digital Technoligy Matariki Project - Bluebots and QR codes
For Matariki we learnt about the stars. We made a speacial Bluebot mat. On the mat we had QR codes and hen you scanned them you learnt about the stars. The kids had to code the Bluebots to get to the QR codes. We learnt that there are nine stars in the cluster and that each star has its own name and something that it is connected to like the sea or weather.
